About Us

Our Mission

To provide immediate access to nutritious food and build community, all while sharing resources to alleviate conditions under homelessness. We strive to serve those in need with compassion and equity. Our communities have long been discarded by the government officials who rarely provide more than lip service to the issues for votes and funds for charity. This work is necessary because of the reality that we, the working class, are the only ones looking out for each other

History

Not so irie was a union formed by the workers of Dajen Eats' who were unjustly fired for seeking accountability. On january 7th of 2022, workers were fired in a meeting organized in an effort to better working conditions. R.E.A.L (Revolutionary Education and Action League) became an essential ally in our struggle as workers and quickly a comradely relationship was developed.

Food sovereignty must be centered on organizing spaces, considering the state of our food systems today, and the prevalent issues of the food deserts/food insecurity in our own communities. R.E.A.L's efforts are reflected in many different ways such as engaging in community political education in the form of zines and edu-forums as well as leading a weekly free food program while supporting community fridges, and caring for a community farm in Pine Hills.

Our Values

This program is prioritizing some of the most economically oppressed people within our communities outside our prisons, which is the unhoused in Orlando. 2,053 homeless men, women, and children on a single night in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. The count includes anyone staying in a homeless shelter, as well as those sleeping in the woods, in their cars or on the streets. We will explore different avenues within our program to help address the needs in our own communities so it has impactful and systemic scope.
